Story 3: "The Flash and Short Shanks] Chapter One: The Case of the "Patsy Colt"!"

Flash meets Winky, Blinky and Noddy while visiting the Cumberly Horse Farm with Joan. Joan's friend Trudy owns a horse named "Short Shanks," a very fast horse that shows little promise of racing fame...until a mysterious fire and sale of the horse at public auction.

Story 6: "The Flash and Short Shanks] Chapter Two: A Horse on Mr. King!"

A blacksmith buys the horse and discovers that the horse has one leg shorter than the others, so he constructs special shoes that allow the horse a chance to become a champion. Meanwhile, the Flash discovers that the Three Dimwits have a photo in their possession showing the guilty party who set the fire at the horse farm: Trudy!

A father brings his two children to the zoo; after his oldest child gives an elephant a bucket of water, the father is drenched by the elephant.

Butch and his gang plot to steal a bunch of cats.

Story 9: "The Flash and Short Shanks] Chapter Three: Melodrama in a Sawmill!"

Walter King persuades the Three Dimwits to set traps to kill the Flash in hopes of taking full possession of the horse, now a proven contender in racing, and they nearly succeed in sawing the Flash in two!

Story 15: "The Flash and Short Shanks] Chapter Four: The Big Race!"

The blacksmith and Trudy kidnap "Short Shanks" and paint him to look like a zebra in order to outwit King. While the Police round up and jail King, Joan Williams decides to ride the horse in a local race.
