Batman disguises himself as the crook Drexel to infiltrate the Crime Academy.

A mysterious man known only as the Chief calls three people who have all escaped certain doom but were left outcasts because of their experiences. He recounts their individual stories. He asks them to become the Doom Patrol, and their first mission is to defuse a bomb.

Story 4: "Chapter 2: The Challenge of the Timeless Commander"

The Chief informs the Doom Patrol of an alien spaceship that has landed on Earth carrying a super-weapon. General Immortus, spying on them, makes plans. The Doom Patrol are sent to protect the spaceship but encounter a strange machine.

Story 5: "Chapter 3: The Deadly Duel with Gen. Immortus"

After locating the super-weapon, the Doom Patrol is confronted by General Immortus, who takes the upper-hand.

Story 6: "Oh, Plastic Man!"

Woozy and Plastic Man set out to capture Eel O'Brian.

Story 7: "Guarding a Lion"

Sargon must figure out who the mysterious person is who has been messing with the circus lion.

Story 8: "Danger in the Totem's Eye!"

Al Pratt goes to a museum to research Indian culture but ends up tracking down some robbers.

Story 9: "The Aqua-Thief of the Seven Seas!"

Aquaman is falsely accused of stealing a chest of diamonds.

Story 10: "Part I: The Legion of Super-Outlaws!"

An evil scientist tricks the Heroes of Lallor into fighting the Legion.

Story 11: "Part II: The Battle of the Super-Teams!"

The Heroes of Lallor turn on Marden King as they realize that they have been duped.

Story 12: "Mr. Roulette's Greatest Gamble"

Mr. Roulette has been gambling with his life but Batman and Robin try to stop him.

Story 14: "Key to the Super-Heroes"

A key that lists all the superheroes featured on the wrap-around cover.
